‘Deewane Hain’ breaks away from Bollywood’s romance formula
Bollywood has never stopped churning out songs about the various forms, facets and shades of love. Whether it’s soulful ballads, heartbreak anthems or dance tracks built around romance, most film music continues to revolve around relationships. That’s what makes Deewane Hain from Welcome To The Jungle an interesting outlier.
The song isn’t trying to tell a love story or centred on longing, heartbreak or a hero wooing a heroine. Instead, it embraces friendship, madness and the unapologetically larger-than-life world that Welcome To The Jungle promises to deliver.
From the first glimpse onwards, Deewane Hain feels like a celebration of collective energy. The song brings together a massive ensemble cast, colourful visuals and a spirit of uninhibited fun. There are no grand declarations of love instead the focus is on camaraderie, mischief and the kind of madness that often lies at the heart of Bollywood’s biggest comedy entertainers.
In many ways, the track feels reminiscent of an era when Hindi cinema regularly produced songs that celebrated groups rather than couples. Songs that were designed for parties, road trips, reunions and moments of shared joy. Over time, such tracks have become less common as music trends shifted towards romantic singles and promotional dance numbers tailored for social media.
Deewane Hain seems to draw its strength from that difference. Composed, written and sung by Anand Raj Anand alongside Amruta Fadnavis, the song leans into its festive mood rather than chasing contemporary trends. The music production by Vikram Nagi, arrangements by Prakash Peters and the lively percussion arrangements give the track a sense of scale that mirrors the film’s sprawling ensemble.
That approach also aligns neatly with the film itself. Welcome To The Jungle isn’t built around one hero or one relationship’ its forte is its vast cast. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the comedy adventure brings together one of the biggest casts seen in recent years, led by Akshay Kumar.
At a time when most film songs are either romantic tracks or high-energy dance numbers, Deewane Hain stands apart by celebrating something simpler — the joy of being part of the madness. And perhaps that’s exactly why it feels like such a natural fit for the world of Welcome To The Jungle.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film brings together a formidable ensemble including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Aftab Shivdasani, Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Kiran Kumar, Zakir Hussain, Vindu Dara Singh, Urvashi Rautela, Hemant Pandey, Brijendra Kala, Feroze Khan (Arjun), Late Pankaj Dheer Ji, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry, Jeetu Verma, Vrihi Kodvara, Adityaa Singgh and Bhagya Bhanushali.
