Bhuvan Arora Reveals the Biggest Challenge of Playing Afroz in MX Original Waiting Hai Season 1 on Prime Video

Mumbai, India – 24th September 2026: Prime Video, India’s largest streaming service for exclusive Originals, has released its latest MX Original series Waiting Hai Season 1 on Prime Video. Set against a charming small-town backdrop, the series has struck a chord with audiences with its refreshing take on relationships, slice-of-life humour and emotionally resonant storytelling. Among its ensemble of relatable characters, Bhuvan Arora’s portrayal of Afroz stands out for its quiet, understated quality. A man of few words, Afroz often communicates through his expressions, reactions and presence, making restraint an important part of the character’s performance.

Speaking about the process of bringing the character to life, Bhuvan Arora shared, “Afroz is not really a talker; he’s more of a listener, so there was a conscious choice to not make him speak too much. In fact, throughout the show, he has the least amount of dialogue and verbal communication, and that became an important part of how we built his character. The dialect was another aspect we worked really hard on. We had Ravi Kan Sinha as our language coach, who had also coached me on Dupahiya, and he was brilliant. He was extremely particular about pronunciation and authenticity. Even during the shoot, he would stop a scene if something didn’t sound right. We would tell him it could always be fixed in dubbing, but for him, it was important that the performance felt real at that very moment. That process really helped me understand Afroz better, as well as the world he comes from.”

A Jio Studios presentation and Jar Pictures Production, the series is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker and Series Director Sameer Vidwans and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Ajay Rai. Waiting Hai stars Divyenndu and Bhuvan Arora in the lead, alongside a stellar ensemble including Harshita Gaur, Kumud Mishra, Vijay Maurya, Srushti Tare and Sunita Rajwar in pivotal roles.
