Rohit Saraf’s Portrayal of Sachindranath Sanyal in The Revolutionaries: An Eye that Sees the World Beyond
Rohit Saraf has successfully broadened his acting range by bringing life to the deeply challenging portrayal of Sachindranath Sanyal in the recently released Amazon Prime Series, The Revolutionaries. Playing a revolutionary figure who is much deeper than what is seen is an intriguing element in itself.
During the pre-independence era, Sachindranath Sanyal was always observant until the moment arrived when he knew when to act. And Rohit, with his fine understanding of the character, brought the required justification to it. When Rash Bihari Bose, played by Bhuvan Bam, needed someone to prove his work, Sachin wasn’t scrambling to prove himself. He had already been ready for years. He never went in blind either. He wasn’t chasing Kranti for the feeling of it. He was thinking three steps ahead. As a trainer wrestler, Sanyal knew his strength lay in showing up for his nation. He did.
To make his portrayal of a freedom fighter even more believable and solid, Saraf underwent rigorous physical training for 15 months, including Mallakhamb and Kushti. He also brought a mix of strength training, kalaripayattu and conditioning to bring agility to his portrayal, and it showed.
With this, Rohit Saraf brings the weight required for Sachindranath Sanyal, and gathers the frames together like a fitting puzzle piece, making it one of the biggest reasons to not miss out on The Revolutionaries. Helmed by director Nikkhil Advani, The Revolutionaries brings together Rohit Saraf, Pratibha Ranta, Bhuvan Bam and Gurfateh Pirzada under one roof. The series is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
