After Pad Man, Swanand Kirkire and Akshay Kumar to reunite for Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s ‘Samuk’

Swanand Kirkire is the latest name to enter the casting buzz around Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Samuk. The actor-writer is reportedly part of the much-awaited sci-fi action-survival thriller, with sources telling us that he has an important role in the Kanishk Varma directorial.

Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures and co-produced by Aashin A. Shah, Samuk is currently being shot in London. The film brings Akshay Kumar and Shah together after 13 years and is being mounted on a large scale for theatrical audiences.

Kirkire reunites with Akshay Kumar after a long time. He had contributed as a writer to Pad Man, which starred Akshay, and later acted in Chumbak, which was presented by the superstar. Samuk could now see the two share screen space, although details about Kirkire’s character are being kept guarded.

Known for his work as a lyricist, writer and actor, Kirkire has moved across different facets of the Hindi film industry. His casting in Samuk adds another performer with a distinct screen presence to the film’s increasingly eclectic ensemble.

Sources suggest Kirkire’s role is an important one within the story, but the makers are keeping individual character details closely guarded. The casting rollout has revealed names while leaving the intriguing question of what each actor plays open, as they want to protect the world of the film and its plot at all costs. The enviable ensemble reportedly comprises Akshay Kumar, Rukmini Maitra, Vineet Kumar Singh, Rajat Kapoor among others.

Kirkire’s casting reiterates that the film has so far kept its ensemble as unpredictable as its world. Evident from its casting moves, Samuk is building a team where every new name raises more questions than it answers.
