There is no force on earth stronger than a mother’s love – unyielding and unafraid to defy the world for her child. COLORS’ upcoming family drama ‘Binddii’ depicts this raw, primal bond in its newly unveiled promo, which opens with Binddii, a young girl, lighting up the grey walls of a prison… and ends with a door slamming shut between her and her mother, Kajal. This girl is out in the world which she has never seen before and knows no one outside the jail — everything is new for this little girl. Taking viewers from the cheer of giggles, birthday celebration and handmade dolls to the gut-wrenching cry of a daughter separating from her mother, the promo proves that the hardest prison is being kept apart from the ones you love.

Starring Radhika Muthukumar as Kajal, the devoted mother, and Saachi Vohra as Binddii, her spirited daughter, Binddii is built on one truth: home is where the mom is. For Kajal, love for her daughter has been the only freedom she’s ever known behind bars; for Binddii, leaving her mother feels like being released from prison only to face a world with no walls to shield her. Capturing the pain in these sentiments, the promo ends with Maa ho paas, bas itni si chah hai… Par asaan kahan iss beti ki raah hai… When the journey beyond jail is far harsher, what will it take for a mother and daughter torn apart by fate to find their way back to each other?

Essaying the role of Kajal, Radhika Muthukumar says, “As an actor, what gave me a huge emotional thrust to play Kajal was picturing a mother creating a safety bubble for her Binddii in jail, knowing she has no control over what lies beyond it. When I first read Kajal’s journey, I felt an ache for a mother who built a universe of love for her daughter within those walls with everything she had. The most powerful thing about her is that even though she’s behind bars, her love has never been imprisoned. And that’s something every parent understands — you don’t have to be in a literal prison to feel trapped or powerless. Life corners all of us at some point, but in those moments, that fierce instinct to protect a loved one becomes your armour, your courage, your reason to fight.”

Set to be seen playing the titular role, Saachi Vohra says, “It was exciting for me to play the role of a daughter whose world revolves entirely around her mother because that’s who I am in real life too. Binddii understands the one thing that every child feels in their heart: their mother is their home and their superhero. As a daughter, she is so loved that she spreads her joy to everyone around her, brightening even the drab and hostile prison, secure in the belief that her mother will always be there for her; and that is exactly what makes her so special.”
