Golu Gupta Will Always Be a Part of Me: Shweta Tripathi on m bringing the character back on screen again in the near future following the movie’s success

There are characters you play, and then there are characters who become a part of your life. For Shweta Tripathi, Golu Gupta is very much the latter. Over the years, the world of Mirzapur has seen Golu transform from a reserved, studious young woman into someone shaped by loss, power, survival and revenge. And Shweta has been right there with her, discovering new layers of the character with every chapter.

With Mirzapur: The Movie adding another dimension to this journey, Shweta finds herself looking back at just how far Golu has come, while remaining curious about where she might go next.

“Golu and I have been together for so many years now, and that journey is very special to me. When we first met her, she was this reserved girl who believed in books and education, and today, well..she has experienced so much that has changed her. And is still changing. But I think that’s what makes her human. Life changes you, sometimes in ways you never imagined, and Golu has lived through so much of that. I have grown as an actor while playing her, too, so in many ways, we have grown together. She will always be an incredibly important part of my journey.”

What makes Golu particularly special to Shweta is that there is no single version of her. Every experience leaves a mark, every choice reveals something new, and there is always more beneath the surface. Playing a character over so many years also brings a different kind of intimacy. “Honestly, I still feel there is so much more to Golu. Every time I return to her, I discover something new. As an actor, that is such a beautiful space to be in because you are not just repeating something you have done before. You are going back to a person who has lived through more experiences, and you have to understand what those experiences have done to her. Golu has surprised me so many times, and I would love to keep discovering those different sides of her.”

Over time, Golu has also become one of the most recognisable characters in the Mirzapur universe, finding a place in the hearts of audiences who have followed her journey from the beginning. For Shweta, that connection is something she holds close, especially knowing how much of herself she has invested in bringing Golu to life.
