“Hamesha Se Merko Acting Karni Thi”: Purav Jha on the Leap from Parody Videos to His Acting Debut in Prime Video’s Chaar Yaar

From creating parody videos to impressing audiences with his masterful gameplay as the OG Traitor in Season 1 of The Traitors, actor Purav Jha is now stepping into the shoes of Saahil Sheikh in Prime Video’s upcoming crime drama series, Chaar Yaar, exploring a new side of his craft. Speaking at GamingCon Bharat, Purav opened up about pursuing his longtime ambition of becoming an actor, the opportunity director Vinay Waikul gave him, and how sharing the screen with his co-stars helped him learn and grow. And when it came to the big question of whether audiences could trust him after his stint as the OG Traitor, Purav had a rather telling response.

Speaking about what made playing Saahil special, Purav Jha shared, “Saahil ka character mere liye special isliye hai kyuki, abhi tak jitno ko bhi pata hai, main parody videos banata hoon. So iss baar kuch naya hai, kisi aur ki life main iss Chaar Yaar mein jee raha hoon, toh bohot exciting hai uske highs, lows express karna., Thanks to Vinay sir, jinhone mauka diya. Aap logon ko bohot maza aayega yeh character dekhne mein. Traitors mera pehla project tha, lekin hamesha se merko acting karni thi, actor hi banana tha, toh main kahunga ki yeh mera pehla project hai, Prime Video ke liye. Please dekhna, aap logon ko bohot maza aayega. Aur jo log bhi yahaan actor banna chahate hain, main unko yehi kahuga ki bhai actor koi perfect nahi hota. Aap cheezein sikhte ho. Jaise ki yeh mere teen dost hain, in logon se maine itna kuch sikha hai. Kyuki jab aap 10 minute se 10 ghante ka project karte ho na, jab aapke paas space jyaada hota hai, toh aap cheezein sikhte ho. Toh yahaan maine woh cheezein seekhi hain. Toh thanks to them yaar, thank you so much!”
Addressing whether audiences could trust Saahil, given his reputation as the OG Traitor, Purav added, “Bilkul bhi nahi, bilkul bhi nahi. Bohot hi peak character hai, thik hai! Peak aap samajh jao.”
