Spherecho Productions’ first feature film, Dial 1975, premiered on Waves OTT on August 21, 2026, and has been receiving a positive response from audiences for its gripping narrative, atmospheric storytelling and strong performances. The film also achieved a notable early milestone by reaching the No. 1 position in the ‘Popular on Waves’ section on its first day of streaming, marking an encouraging start for the production house’s debut feature.

Set against the backdrop of the 1975 Emergency, Dial 1975 explores a high-stakes race surrounding the prototype of India’s first wireless phone. The film brings together technology, political turmoil and human drama as its characters navigate a world where communication is heavily restricted and a single device becomes the centre of a dangerous pursuit.

The journey of Dial 1975 from production to release, however, came with its share of challenges. The project initially faced several creative and executional hurdles, including glitches during production, footage that required extensive reworking during the edit and a screenplay that needed considerable restructuring. Given the politically sensitive subject, the team also had to work within several restrictions and creative limitations while shaping the narrative.

Despite these challenges, Ranaksh Rana, founder of Spherecho Productions and Megha Rana stepped up to steer the project through its difficult phases. Their perseverance, creative intervention and commitment helped the team overcome the limitations and bring the film together in its intended form. Their efforts ensured that the film ultimately found its visual identity and came into its own, allowing Dial 1975 to reach audiences in the way the team had envisioned.

Led by an accomplished ensemble featuring *Kay Kay Menon, Kirti Kulhari, Pravessh Rana, Vishwanath Chatterjee and Shubham Vardhan,* the film has drawn attention for its layered characters, tense narrative and performances that bring the uncertainty and paranoia of the era to life.

The film also holds special significance as one of the final screen appearances of the late veteran actor Lt. Tom Alter, adding another layer of importance to the project and his enduring cinematic legacy.

Directed by Navneet Behal and Vibhu Kashyap, Dial 1975 combines a period setting with the urgency of a thriller while keeping its characters and their emotional stakes at the heart of the story. Its strong initial performance on Waves, including its No. 1 position in the platform’s ‘Popular on Waves’ section on day one, marks a positive milestone for Spherecho Productions and the entire team behind the film.

Dial 1975 is now streaming on WAVES, the official state-owned OTT platform launched by Prasar Bharati, offering video-on-demand, audio-on-demand, live TV channels and other digital entertainment services across mobile and smart TV devices.
