After an extensive shoot in the UK, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah and director Kanishk Varma are bringing Akshay Kumar’s sci-fi survival thriller home to Mumbai for its final 20 days.

If you thought you’d seen it all when it comes to Indian action spectacles, think again. Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah and superstar Akshay Kumar are pulling out all the stops for their upcoming sci-fi action thriller, Samuk. The team has officially wrapped up an extensive shooting schedule in the UK, completing nearly 80 percent of the film, and is now heading home to Mumbai for its final 20-day leg.

Directed by Kanishk Varma and produced under Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Sunshine Pictures, Samuk has been in development for over two years. Mounted on a massive scale, the film promises an edge-of-your-seat blend of science fiction, action, and survival elements designed strictly for the big screen. What makes Samuk even more exciting is that it marks the reunion of Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Akshay Kumar after 13 long years. The legendary duo, known for creating iconic cinema together, is entering uncharted territory with this ambitious genre outing.

To make sure the visual experience is truly world-class, Vipul Amrutlal Shah has brought international expertise on board. Academy Award-nominated creature-effects designer Alec Gillis, famous for his iconic work on the Alien and Predator franchises, has created the film’s central alien creature. Rather than relying purely on digital tricks, the production has chosen a grounded visual approach, blending real creature effects with action sequences.

The film also features a versatile ensemble cast including Rukmini Maitra, Vineet Kumar Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Swanand Kirkire, Banita Sandhu, and Sushant Singh. While plot and character details are currently under wraps, the unique mix of performers adds another layer of intrigue to this sci-fi thriller.

Co-produced by Aashin A. Shah, Samuk is being positioned as a game-changing theatrical spectacle for Indian cinema, heading toward a major pan-India release in 2027. With the UK schedule successfully wrapped and Mumbai up next, the countdown to this big-screen event has officially begun.
