For Shruti Haasan, cats have never been just pets. Over the years, they have become an important part of her world, with her journey as a cat parent rooted in adoption and rescue. As the world celebrates International Cat Day on August 8, her bond with her feline companions offers a glimpse into the quieter, more personal side of the actor’s life.

Shruti’s association with rescued cats began with Clara and Cora, whom she adopted after they were rescued in 2018. She has often shared glimpses of them on social media, allowing fans to see the affectionate bond she shares with her pets. Clara, in particular, became a familiar presence in Shruti’s life, while Cora’s journey was marked by an emotional chapter when she went missing and was eventually found.

That connection with rescued animals continued this year when Shruti welcomed another cat into her family. In May 2026, she adopted a six-month-old ginger cat who had previously been surrendered by his family. Originally known as Ghost or Aslan, he found a new home with Shruti, who named him Aslan Haasan.

What makes Shruti’s relationship with her cats particularly endearing is the way she speaks about them not simply as companions, but as beings who have taught her important lessons about love, independence and resilience. She has previously reflected on how cats taught her to give “just enough love,” while allowing them their own space.

This World Cat Day, Shruti’s journey with Clara, Cora and Aslan is a gentle reminder that sometimes, adopting a pet means finding a family member who was waiting to find you.
