Hello Bachhon actor Arnav Chandel set for his debut as a protagonist with Johnny: “I didn’t always know what he’d do next

Actor Arnav Chandel, known for his work in Hello Bachhon, is set to portray Johnny in the action-thriller Harrd Disk. The genre-blending movie is written and directed by Udoyrraj Baruah and is all set to release on August 21.

Set against a politically charged background, the film also features Nanda Yadav(Shiksha Mandal) and Jaihind Kumar (Shiksha Mandal, Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai) in lead roles.

Chandel opened up about his character. Describing him as “unpredictable, and not in a cool mysterious way,” he went on to say,” The honest answer is that Johnny doesn’t sit still long enough to be described neatly. People around him are constantly recalculating. Most of what I needed was already on the page.”

While describing about the unpredictability of Johnny, Chandel commented about how a typical protagonist is straightly predictable. On the other hand, ” With Johnny, even I didn’t always know what he’d do next, and I was playing him. That unpredictability is the engine of the film. You’re not watching him to see if he wins, you’re watching him to see what he does.”

For the preparation of the role, he humbly credited the script describing it as well-written. “The real work was the dialogue pacing. Johnny doesn’t speak in a rhythm you can settle into. He speeds up, drops out, comes back. Getting that timing right so it feels unpredictable rather than random took the most work,” he added.

The movie HARRD DISK being an action comedy thriller, Chandel quietly hopes that audience takes away a good time calling it “whole point.” He also believes that his character, Johnny, “will stay with people a little longer than they expect.”

Talking about the uniqueness of the movie, he commented, “Action comedy thrillers usually pick a lane. Usually the action is serious and the comedy is relief. This one doesn’t let you settle into either. The other thing is that the film never tells you where you are. There’s no establishing shot of a famous landmark, no “this city” framing. It could be happening anywhere, maybe near you. That changes how you watch it.”

Chandel recalled how the long night shoots were the most challenging part of the shoot. “Your body genuinely stops knowing what time it is,” he added.

He later revealed how he cannot be casual about HARRD DISK, it being his first feature film as the protagonist. He further concluded his experience by sharing, “The thing I’ll remember is that nobody on that set was casual about anything. Three of us are on the poster of the film, but our director Udoy Baruah and the whole crew shooting through the night for weeks, wrapping at sunrise, and showing up again the next evening ready to go. Nights like that either break a set or bond it, and ours bonded. This film existed because everyone on it treated it like it mattered. It’s special to me for what it is in my career, and just as special to me for who I made it with.”

Backed by Common Enterrtainment in association with Nayamigro Media and Xanthin, HARRD DISK promises a gripping blend of suspense, action, humor and political intrigue.
The ensemble cast also includes Rahul Arora, Siddhartha Mukhrrjee and Chhabi Gauragai in pivotal roles.
