The Vvaan Makers Acquire the Sync Rights of Aigiri Nandini Track After Facing Accusation from Musician Sargam Vaish

On September 21, the makers of The Vvaan acquired the sync rights of Aigiri Nandini track after musician Sargam Vaish took to his social media handle to accuse the makers of using the song without his permission. On September 20, Vaish took to his social media handle to call out the makers of the fantasy folklore spectacle, alleging that the master recording created by him was used in the trailer of The Vvaan, sans his permission.

Within a day, Balaji Motion Pictures took corrective action as the legal team met Sargam Vaish and acquired the song’s sync rights. “Balaji’s executives and lawyers have been cooperative. We met them today; they were kind and apologetic, even though they didn’t cause [the leak]. They are taking the sync rights for the track. I am grateful for the fact that we were able to resolve it so smoothly,” Vaish said.

The previous week, Vaish was shocked to hear the track in the trailer of what’s shaped up as one of the most awaited films of recent times. “This is the version I had created for Ram Gopal Varma’s film. I own the master rights. No one had approached me for an NOC or permission,” he recalled. Even though Balaji Motion Pictures has now taken corrective measures, what concerns the musician is how the recording reached the film’s team. “The source of the leak is not known to us yet. We are trying to trace how this happened,” he says.

Backed by some of the country’s most distinctive storytellers, The Vvaan brings together TVF’s Arunabh Kumar, director Deepak Mishra and Ektaa Kapoor for a commercial film that attempts to take Indian folklore into a new cinematic space. While its world is rooted in folklore and fantasy, the film brings together adventure, mystery and humour to shape itself as a complete family entertainer. The ambition extends beyond the film, with The Legend of Vvaan comic book already introducing audiences to the larger folklore surrounding its universe.

Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with TVF and 11.11 Production, The Vvaan stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. Written by Arunabh Kumar and directed by Deepak Mishra, with Manu Anand as DOP and Visual Director, the film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari.

The Vvaan arrives in cinemas on September 25, 2026, promising a big-screen fantasy folklore experience where the visuals, music, mystery and scale come together to create a world audiences will want to step into.
