Anushka Sen Named Indian Global Ambassador for 2026 Newport Beach Film Festival; Actor Marks a Milestone with Korean Film Jeju Olle
Indian actress Anushka Sen has been named the Indian Global Ambassador for the 2026 Newport Beach Film Festival, adding another international milestone to her growing career. The announcement positions Anushka as a representative of Indian talent at the global film festival, which celebrates cinema and storytelling from across the world.
The appointment comes at a significant time for the actor, who is making her way into Korean cinema with Jeju Olle, a Korea–India co-production that brings together talent from both entertainment industries. With this project, Anushka is among the first Indian actors to take on a leading role in a Korean feature film, opening up a new avenue for cross-cultural collaborations.
Written and directed by Jin Kwang-Kyo, Jeju Olle is produced by Storyworks Co., Ltd. and Lucifer Production, with Celebridge also involved in the project. The film stars Anushka alongside South Korean actor Kang Hyung-seok, known for his performances in popular Korean series including Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.
The romantic musical follows Alisha, an Indian singer and actor who travels to Jeju Island following a personal loss. There, she meets Ha Sun-woo, a former K-pop idol navigating his own challenges. As the two explore the island, their connection develops through music and shared experiences, bringing themes of healing, self-discovery and new beginnings to the screen.
Shot in Korean, Hindi and English, the film blends Indian and Korean storytelling. It has been selected for the Korean Spotlight programme at the 27th Newport Beach Film Festival, with its North American premiere scheduled for October 21, 2026.
Anushka’s appointment as Indian Global Ambassador, alongside her work on Jeju Olle, highlights her growing engagement with international cinema and the increasing scope for Indian talent to connect with audiences beyond the country’s borders.
