Years After Baghban, Anupamaa Revives the Fight for Parents’ Honour
Two decades after Baghban moved audiences to tears with its painful portrayal of aging parents abandoned by their own children, the fight for dignity and respect for elders finds a powerful new voice in Star Plus’ most popular show Anupamaa, this time with sharper urgency and contemporary relevance.
In Baghban, Raj Malhotra and Pooja Malhotra’s silent suffering became a mirror to countless families where parents, after a lifetime of sacrifice, are reduced to feeling unwanted. Today, Anupamaa carries forward the fight for dignity—reinforcing that parents are not a burden, but the very foundation of a family. The new promo track brings to light a deeply unsettling truth, elderly parents being sidelined, humiliated, and emotionally discarded within the very homes they built.
Anupamaa refuses to remain a bystander. When she witnesses a family conveniently pushing their aging parents to do household chores and even threatening to beat them, she dons a disguise and steps in, not as a daughter but as a close relative of the elderly couple to support them. Along with her Bapuji, she begins a mission called ‘Sabak’ (lesson) and enters the house, presenting themselves as relatives of the aging parents, with Anupamaa introducing her Bapuji as the richest man in Dubai.
But this is not just a clever plan—it is a fierce stand. Anupamaa fights back with purpose and conviction to teach the family a hard lesson on how to dignify parents. Her aggression for the cause is clear as she ensures the elderly couple feel seen, valued, and protected. By standing beside them in their toughest moments, she restores their dignity, demands accountability, and reinforces that respect, care, and gratitude towards parents are non-negotiable.
This entertaining yet powerful twist in the promo is set to make for a compelling episode. The battle for parents’ honour continues and this time, Anupamaa leads it.
Watch Anupamaa this Friday at 10 PM only on Star Plus.
