Pooja Hegde is all set to storm the big screens with the big-ticket release, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, a rom-com that officially establishes her as a David Dhawan heroine! During the trailer launch of the anticipated film, the actress opened up about working alongside the veteran filmmaker, sharing how he urged the actors to focus more on bringing laughter than thinking too much!

“David sir has always told us to act with conviction. He’s of the opinion that we think quite a lot, and he’s advised us not to think much, because the idea is to spread laughter among the audience. And that’s something I learned from David sir!” shares Pooja Hegde.

She adds, “I always feel that if a girl can do comedy, it’s a game-changer. Personally, I do love serious films. But every time I reach home after a hectic day of work, I always unwind by watching something that has comedy in it. So, I have always wanted to be a part of a good comedy film. And David sir has worked with iconic actresses like Karisma Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Juhi Chawla and more, and the common thread between them was that they could do comedy. For me, that is a very important part when you want to do a commercial entertainer. And this was my vacation film.”

Recalling wholesome memories from the film sets, the actress adds, “The pack-up was early around 4 pm, and we had to urge him to shoot a bit more. He also spoils you as an actor because he knows his edit; he shoots really fast. I want to entertain people, I want to make them laugh, and I hope I do that with this film.” Having headlined intense spectacles before and now pivoting to a rom-com, Pooja describes Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai as her “vacation film.”

Directed by David Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai brings together Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur and Maniesh Paul under one roof for the first time. Billed as a hilarious rom-com, the film is scheduled to land on the big screens on June 5.
