Audience Compare Dhurandhar The Revenge’s Thunderous Hype to that of 1975’s Cult Classic Sholay: Dhurandhar is to today what Sholay was 50 years ago
Jio Studios and B62 Studios’ Dhurandhar The Revenge has finally arrived on the big screens. With its release, the audience is comparing its monstrous hype to the 1975 cult classic, Sholay. Fans are of the opinion that Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar The Revenge have strengthened their stance as the Sholay of modern times – for a lot many reasons!
“Only Sholay (1975) can match the craze of #Dhurandhar2 keeping in mind all the factors @AdityaDharFilms @AdityaRajKaul,” expressed a user. Another fan wrote, “The movie is a masterpiece. There’s no competition for Dhurandhar in Indian cinema including classics like Sholay..imo.”
Another chimed in and shared, “Post Dhurandhar, nobody should watch any movie at all. All theatres in my city are shutting down. Greatest film in history bar none. 10x better than Sholay.” A user wrote, “Dhurandhar would be cult to our generation just like Sholay is to our parents’ generation.”
“This is a significant statement, considering that Indian cinema, despite its critics, has produced numerous great & memorable films in the last 25 years. But Dhurandhar is to today what Sholay was 50 years ago, carrying that same weight for the cinephiles,” wrote another.
Sholay wasn’t a movie, it was a national emotion. And now, as per the enthusiastic fans, Dhurandhar has become a roaring national emotion of today. Dhurandhar fever is real, with the audience starting a string of reels, fan edits all over the internet.
From Gabbar Singh becoming the iconic villain then, to Arjun Rampal’s ISI Major Iqbal becoming a sensation now – from Jai-Veeru’s iconic bromance to Ranveer Singh’s unforgettable Hamza Ali Mazari – Dhurandhar has set a benchmark in Indian cinema that very few can try to reach. With the audience calling it the ‘Sholay’ of today, Dhurandhar has truly packed a punch!
Sholay reminds us why we fell in love with films in the first place, and now, Dhurandhar reminds us why we continue watching them!
