As Arjun goes undercover and Megha faces harrowing trials, the scenic town of Nainital serves as the breathtaking yet intense backdrop for this phase. Neil Bhatt, who plays the lead role of Arjun, shares insights into the new storyline and what it was like filming in the heart of the mountains.
Excerpts from the interview:
1. Tell us about the current story track.
A. The show has entered one of its most powerful phases. We’ve taken the story from Amritsar and Chandigarh to the no man’s land of Bhandipur, which lies beyond India’s borders. Manoj has abducted Megha and taken her there, while Arjun is doing everything he can, to bring her back. He initially tries legal channels, but when that doesn’t work, he takes matters into his own hands. Arjun infiltrates Manoj’s drug gang under a new identity—Jishnu, which is another name for Arjun. Disguised and right under Manoj’s nose, he plots to rescue Megha. She eventually discovers that Jishnu is, in fact, Arjun. Amidst the danger and pressure, they find fleeting moments of romance and reassurance, knowing that someone is there to protect her. It’s an intense and emotionally charged track, full of thrill, power, and impact. We’ve shot these sequences in the beautiful backdrop of Bhimtal, which adds to the dramatic storytelling.
2. How was your shooting experience in Nainital?
A. Nainital is truly beautiful—I’ve been here before, but this time it’s for work, and it’s been an amazing experience. The weather is wonderful, and being away from the Mumbai heat is a bonus! Shooting in a hill station always brings a different kind of joy. Most of our scenes were outdoors, and the camera had the freedom to capture the stunning natural backdrops from every angle. That said, local movement was a bit slower, so even the smallest setups took extra time. But that slower pace worked in our favour, adding weight and depth to the story, especially during the Arjun-Megha scenes. We’ve blended thrilling, romantic, and emotional moments with the calm and majestic mountains behind us. The contrast between the peaceful surroundings and the emotional turbulence in the storyline really stood out. Overall, it’s been a beautiful location to shoot in, and it’s added so much to the overall look and feel of the show.
3. Tell us about your character arc in the current storyline.
A. In this show, I play the character of Arjun. He was once an IAS officer, but now he’s Jishnu, a fugitive by choice. He’s on the run because he wants to rescue Megha. After committing a crime, he realized that going through legal channels wasn’t helping, so he decided to take matters into his own hands and cross the border. To survive and stay undercover, he takes on a new identity—Jishnu. This new avatar is completely different from Arjun. Jishnu is a street-smart, tapori-style character who speaks in a distinct way. The look includes a prosthetic nose, beard, moustache, and an entirely new personality. The intention is to keep the audience guessing—he may resemble Arjun, but he behaves like Jishnu. The biggest test of this transformation was when I stepped out in the get-up, some people didn’t even recognize me—that’s when I knew we had nailed the look. I’m quite satisfied with how this character has shaped up, and I think the audience will enjoy the suspense and layers he brings to the story.
4. Any message for fans?
A. To everyone who’s been watching Megha Barsenge I just want to say, we wouldn’t be here without our fans—it’s all thanks to the love and support we receive for the show. Just like you love watching the show, we love creating it for you. No project can survive without the audience’s love, and we’re committed to keeping you entertained with more suspense and exciting twists in the current track.
