COLORS’ ‘Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment’ takes a sporting detour this week as the show transforms into the most chaotic, laughter-filled tournament on television: the Chefs Premier League (CPL). At the centre of it all is Bharti Singh, gleefully stepping in as the most entertaining umpire the league has ever seen, joined by Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, who casually drops the bomb that he once played district-level cricket. With the whistle blown and the banter already flying, two rival teams are ready to take the field — Team Gas, captained by Karan Kundrra, and Team Lighter, led by Arjun Bijlani. Adding to the spectacle right at the start, Reem Shaikh makes a dramatic entrance that instantly catches everyone off guard, setting the tone for the madness that’s about to unfold.

But before the cooking begins, the drama kicks off with a player auction that feels straight out of the IPL playbook. Contestants are bid on like star cricketers while Bharti provides her trademark running commentary on every move. Speaking about captaining Team Lighter, Arjun Bijlani shared,* _“Cricket is almost like a religion in India, so bringing that league-style energy into the kitchen of Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment felt really exciting. The moment Bharti announced the Chefs Premier League and I was made captain, the competitive spirit naturally kicked in. Of course, you want your team to do well, but here the challenge is very different because while you are thinking like a captain, you’re also juggling spatulas and recipes at the same time. My team had Samarth, Krushna bhai, Nia, Reem, Kashmera and Vicky and let’s just say the cooking skills might be questionable, but the dinnertainment quotient is sky-high. Krushna bhai is probably the last person you’d expect near a stove, but he’s an absolute mastermind when it comes to sneaking ingredients from the other team, and I was fully planning to use that talent to our advantage. To make it even more special, my cousin had flown in all the way from New York and was sitting in the audience cheering for us. But honestly, in Laughter Chefs, strategy, chaos, last-minute jugaad and non-stop leg-pulling are all part of the game — one moment you’re planning a winning dish, the next moment someone has stolen your ingredient and the whole kitchen turns into a comedy stadium.
