THANE — As climate change shifts from a global warning to a local reality, its impact is being felt by every citizen through unpredictable weather patterns and increasing resource
scarcity. Recognizing that urban centers must lead the way in sustainability, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has, for the first time, officially partnered with a citizen-led
initiative to drive systemic change. This noble mission, ‘Jal Hit Mein Jaari’, sees the municipal body joining forces with Actress Amrita Rao, State BJP General Secretary and
MLC Niranjan Davkhare, and philanthropist Aditya Chauhan to secure the city’s water  future.

The partnership was solidified following a high-level meeting at the TMC headquarters, building on the momentum of the campaign’s successful launch at CREDAI-MCHI.
Commissioner Saurabh Rao took a deep interest in the delegation’s roadmap, acknowledging that the time for behavioral and structural change is now.

“The ‘Jal Hit Mein Jaari’ initiative brings a necessary perspective on behavioral change and technical mandates,” stated TMC Commissioner, Saurabh Rao. “We acknowledge the
importance of a structured approach to this issue. Therefore, the administration will constitute a committee to study these proposals and drive this mission forward systematically, ensuring
that water conservation becomes a core aspect of our city’s behavior.”

The campaign is the brainchild of Amrita Rao, who has long been a cultural icon for water conservation. Known famously across social media for her “Jal Lijiye” persona which recently went viral again during her high-profile association with a leading jewelry brand Amrita is now translating her digital influence into on-ground policy reform.

“Conservation is about redesigning our lifestyle,” explained Actress, Amrita Rao. “By making water-saving taps a mandate for builders, we can save millions of liters at the source.
This is a vision for a future-ready, water-secure city.”

The strategic and legislative backbone of the initiative has been shaped by Niranjan Davkhare, who advocated for the necessity of a formal committee to ensure these ideas become reality. He was joined by Aditya Chauhan, who highlighted the urgent need to regulate high water wastage in commercial sectors like restaurants and salons.

“It is our collective duty to take the right action and realize the critical importance of water for our city’s future,” stated Niranjan Davkhare, State BJP General Secretary and MLC.
“By forming a specialized committee, we ensure a constant check on these efforts, drafting them into the city’s regulatory framework. I am grateful to Commissioner Saurabh Rao for
recognizing the importance of this institutional oversight.”

The meeting ended on a highly positive note, marking a historic collaboration between the administration and the ‘Jal Hit Mein Jaari’ team to secure a sustainable, water-conscious
future for Thane.
