India celebrates Republic Day today, and what better occasion than this to look back at films that made the young India fall in love with patriotism. As civil officers, revolutionaries, soldiers, or even citizens, Bollywood has given us rare cinema that has moulded how the young generation understands love for the nation. Here’s a specially curated Republic Day watchlist you wouldn’t want to miss!

*Rang De Basanti:* Rang De Basanti, headlined by Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, Siddharth and others, changed the way patriotism was portrayed on screen. The characters, especially Sharman Joshi’s Sukhi Ram aka Rajguru, spoke directly to the youth. The film made it clear that patriotism isn’t just about raising slogans, it’s also about driving impactful change, sometimes by standing up where it matters.

*URI: The Surgical Strike:* Vicky Kaushal packed a punch of adrenaline and josh in URI: The Surgical Strike. The film turned modern-day Para special forces’ operations into a full-blown cinematic extravaganza. The film gave a national catchphrase with ‘How’s the Josh?’, and also offered audiences a chest-thumping theatrical high!

*Raazi:* In Raazi, Alia Bhatt showed that patriotism need not roar always, sometimes the whispers are enough to stand by your country. As Sehmat, who quietly sacrifices her happiness for national duty, Alia served a restrained as well as emotionally layered performance that made this tale of inner conflict one about bravery!

*Paltan:* Arjun Rampal starrer Paltan drew emphasis on brotherhood and resilience, showing that patriotism isn’t always about winning wars, but it’s also about holding your ground with faith that refuses to be shaken. The actor embodied an army officer whose resolute and patriotism shone in duty rather than display.

*Neerja:* In the biological thriller, Sonam Kapoor ditched weapons and uniform to display courage and love for the nation, proving that heroes don’t always wear uniforms. The film displayed extraordinary courage of a flight attendant who chose to save lives at the cost of her own.

These films show that patriotism comes in many shades, and each one is equally powerful to be celebrated this Republic Day!
