From Tamil Screens to the Hindi-speaking Audience: Heart Beat Expands Its Cultural Connect on JioHotstar
With 7 million viewers for Season 2, the JioHotstar fiction franchise is building on its established audience as Season 3 has opened the door to new viewers across India.
Stories can travel across languages when audiences find reasons to invest in their characters. For Heart Beat, the journey from a Tamil fiction series to a franchise attracting wider national attention reflects the opportunity for regional storytelling to connect with viewers beyond its original linguistic market.
The series’ established reach provides a foundation for this expansion. According to Ormax Media’s mid-year 2025 estimates, Heart Beat Season 2 reached 7 million viewers in India, placing it at No. 37 among the country’s top 50 streaming originals for the first half of the year. The milestone underlines the franchise’s ability to attract a substantial audience through its evolving characters and continuing narrative.
Now in its third season, Heart Beat continues to expand its appeal with the world of RK Multispeciality Hospital, where medical drama intertwines complex family dynamics and romance. Centred on the relationships between Reena, Rathi, Vijay and Arjun, the series offers Hindi-speaking audiences an opportunity to discover its layered characters and evolving storylines, while catching up on the first two seasons to experience the emotional journeys that shape the latest chapter.
This is the broader opportunity offered by JioHotstar’s Long Running Shows strategy: giving regional stories the time and continuity to build lasting audience relationships, while creating opportunities for discovery across language markets. For Heart Beat, the next phase is about extending the reach of an established Tamil franchise and bringing its characters into the viewing conversations of a wider Indian audience.
Deepa Balu, who plays Reena In Heart Beats, said, “Reena’s journey has never been straightforward, and that is what makes her so interesting to play. She has had to make difficult choices while trying to find her place in both her personal and professional life. Season 3 takes her into another phase, and I am excited for audiences to see where that takes her.”
Anumol, who plays Rathi, said, “Rathi is a mother who feels deeply, even when she does not always know how to express it. There is a lot of emotion beneath the choices she makes, and I think that is something audiences can recognise. Season 3 brings out new shades of her character, which has been wonderful to explore.”
Karthik Kumar, who plays Vijay, added, “Vijay has a very different place in the story this season. There are questions from the past that continue to shape the family, and he finds himself having to deal with their consequences. I think that adds an interesting layer to what we see unfold in Season 3.”
Charukesh M, who plays Arjun, said, “Arjun and Reena’s journey has had its share of uncertainty, and Season 3 continues to test what they mean to each other. For viewers coming to Heart Beat for the first time, there is a lot to discover in the earlier seasons before stepping into everything that is happening now.”
