Randeep Hooda travels to flood-hit Assam, joins Global Sikhs in Relief efforts for affected families in Sivasagar

Actor, filmmaker and humanitarian Randeep Hooda has once again stepped forward in support of communities affected by natural disasters, this time travelling to the flood-ravaged state of Assam to personally participate in relief efforts. Joining hands with the Global Sikhs, an NGO with which he has been associated for several years, Randeep spent two days on the ground in Sivasagar, one of the worst-affected regions, extending aid and support to families displaced by the devastating floods.

The Global Sikhs has been actively carrying out relief operations across flood-affected areas of Assam over the past week, providing food, shelter and essential supplies to those in need. Randeep joined the organisation’s volunteers a day ago and worked alongside them in distributing ration kits, freshly prepared meals, mattresses, tarpaulins, bedding and basic household and toiletry essentials to families who have sought refuge at the Sivasagar Railway Station, after being displaced from surrounding villages inundated by floodwaters.

This is not the first time Randeep has partnered with Amarpreet Singh of Global Sikhs during a humanitarian crisis. The actor has been closely associated with the NGO for several years and had also actively participated in relief work during the devastating Punjab floods last year, during the Kerala floods in 2018, visited the border migrant camps in Nowshera and distributed relief supplies to those affected by border conflicts and natural disasters reflecting his long-standing commitment to supporting communities during times of need.

Speaking after spending time with the affected families, Randeep Hooda said, “Whenever you stand amidst people who have lost their homes, their belongings and, in many cases, their sense of security overnight, you realise how fragile life can be. These families aren’t looking for sympathy; they’re looking for support, dignity and hope. Spending these two days in Sivasagar with the Global Sikhs has been an incredibly humbling experience. I’ve been associated with the organisation for many years now, and what continues to inspire me is the spirit of selfless service with which every volunteer works. They don’t ask where someone comes from, what language they speak or what faith they follow they simply see people in need and step forward to help. That, to me, is the true essence of humanity.”

He further added, “The scale of the devastation here is heartbreaking. Meeting children, elderly people and entire families who have been forced to leave everything behind reminds us that disasters don’t discriminate. What they need immediately are essential food, clean water, shelter, medicines, bedding and above all, the reassurance that they haven’t been forgotten. I sincerely urge everyone keep Humanity above everything else and contribute in whatever way they can, whether through donations, volunteering or simply supporting credible organisations working on the ground.“

During his visit, Randeep also paid his respects at the Gurudwara Sahib in Sivasagar, where he offered prayers for the safety, strength and well-being of the people affected by the floods and for the countless volunteers and rescue workers continuing to assist those in need.

By lending not only his voice but also his time and presence on the ground, Randeep Hooda continues to demonstrate that meaningful action extends far beyond the screen. His continued association with the Global Sikhs underscores his belief that service to humanity is a shared responsibility, inspiring others to come forward and support communities rebuilding their lives in the wake of disaster.
