Abhishek Kapoor and Pragya Kapoor’s Kai Po Che clocks 13 years today. And on the film’s 13th anniversary, producer Pragya Kapoor held a candid AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on her Instagram handle, attracting admirers and fans of her as well as the film. From revealing her favourite character, to best memories, trivia, to the idea of Shubhaarambh track, Pragya spilled it all!

When an admirer asked Pragya to reveal the toughest and the easiest scene to shoot, the producer shared, “Everything was tough! The cricket scenes were very tough because it was extremely hot and sun was melting down, and it had to be covered from a lot of angles.” Hopping onto the best memory from the sets, Pragya says, “It was my first time on a movie set,” and playfully mentions that she could never forget having breakfast buffet every morning!

Shubhaarambh track from the film continues to be celebrated even today. Speaking of how the makers got the idea of the song, and whether they’d know it would become a huge hit, Pragya says, “Amit and Gattu jammed endlessly on the music…there was so much passion and pure excitement in every session. I don’t think any of us could have imagined that years later, it would still live so closely in people’s hearts.”

Pragya expresses being in awe of everything happening on Kai Po Che, and then “finally seeing it all come together on the edit was the most satisfying experience,” she adds. “Ishaan (Sushant Singh Rajput) resonates the most to me. He reminds me that belief is what turns big dreams into reality,” she says while revealing her favourite character.

Pragya recalls the post-shoot memories when her close friends and the industry watched Kai Po Che for the first time and expressed genuine reactions. “There was so much warmth in that moment that I couldn’t hold back my emotions. I remember happy tears rolling down my cheeks and feeling grateful for everything the film had become,” she says.

The producer spills the tea on whether she’s venturing into film direction and writing. When asked by a fan, Pragya said, “No plans but you should never say never. I do dabble a bit in writing.”

Released in 2013, Kai Po Che starred Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh in key roles. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film continues to be remembered for portraying friendship and sports in its authenticity and serving songs that continue to receive incredible love.
