“My biggest fear is failing publicly,” says Orhan Awatramani aka Orry about entering COLORS’ ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’
COLORS’ ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ is all set to return with a brand-new season packed with bigger stunts, tougher challenges, and unexpected twists. Hosted by action demigod Rohit Shetty against the stunning views of Cape Town, the show will put 13 contestants through situations that test not just physical endurance but also mental strength and composure. Making his Khatron Ke Khiladi debut, social media sensation Orry (Orhan Awatramani) steps into a completely new world, leaving behind his comfort zone to embrace one of the toughest adventures of his life. Known for staying viral on socials, Orry opens up about what convinced him to say yes to the show.
1. You’re entering Khatron Ke Khiladi in its 15th season. What compelled you to say yes?
A. The makers said that I’d have to perform stunts and I said that I love a good publicity stunt, sign me up!I genuinely believe life is all about collecting experiences, and this felt like one experience I couldn’t say no to. People know me for my social media presence, but I wanted to do something that challenged me in a completely different way. I’ve always loved adventure, and I like pushing myself into situations I’ve never been in before. Honestly, I’d never even watched Khatron Ke Khiladi before signing up, so I had no idea what I was walking into. I just knew it would be exciting, unpredictable, and probably one of the craziest things I’d ever do. This is good for my character development. People think I only capture selfies, but this time I decided to capture fears. Sometimes the best adventures begin when you don’t overthink them.
2. What does Darr Ka Naya Daur mean for you?
A. For me, Darr Ka Naya Daur is about discovering a version of myself I hadn’t met before. It’s easy to feel fearless when you’re living your everyday life, but it’s completely different when you’re about to perform a stunt that pushes you physically and mentally. Every challenge teaches you something about yourself. I wanted to experience that uncertainty, trust the process, and see how I react when things don’t go according to plan. That’s what this journey is all about.
3. What’s the one fear from your real life that you’re worried this show might brutally expose?
A. I don’t think it’s snakes or heights that scare me the most. My biggest fear is failing publicly. When you’re constantly in the public eye, every success and every mistake gets noticed. I’ve always been someone who enjoys taking risks, but this show is different because there’s nowhere to hide. If you panic, everyone sees it. If you fail, everyone watches it happen. That vulnerability was probably the scariest part for me, but it was also the biggest reason I wanted to do the show.
4. People know you for your larger-than-life personality. Did you ever feel this show would reveal a different side of Orry?
A. Absolutely. Social media only shows one side of a person. On Khatron Ke Khiladi, there’s no filter, no editing, and no way to fake your emotions. Whether you’re scared, nervous, excited or emotional, everything comes out naturally. People know the internet version of Orry. On Khatron Ke Khiladi, they’ll meet the human version. Of course, the fun and madness are still there, but they’ll also see moments where I had to dig deep, stay calm, and surprise even myself.
5. What are your thoughts about Rohit Shetty mentoring both the OGs and the new khiladis?
A. Rohit sir has this incredible presence that instantly gives you confidence. Even before attempting a stunt, the way he explains things makes you feel like you can actually do it. He’s strict when he needs to be, but he also knows exactly how to motivate you. Since this was my first season, I learned a lot just by observing him. He’s someone who genuinely wants every contestant to give their best, and that’s very inspiring.
6. How did you prepare for this show?
A. I worked on my fitness because I knew the stunts would demand strength and stamina. But I also realised that mental preparation is just as important. The truth is, you can train all you want, but nothing prepares you for the surprises this show throws at you. So, I focused on staying open-minded, trusting my instincts, and reminding myself that the whole point of coming here was to challenge myself, not to be perfect.
7. How do you personally deal with anticipation, anxiety, and the silence before danger hits?
A. I think those few moments before a stunt are harder than the stunt itself because your imagination starts working overtime. I’ve learned that overthinking only makes fear bigger. So, I try to stay present, listen carefully to the instructions, and focus only on the next step instead of the entire challenge. The moment you start trusting yourself, everything feels a little more manageable.
8. You’ve been associated with COLORS through shows like Bigg Boss and Laughter Chefs as a guest. How does it feel to now be part of the channel in such a different avatar?
A. It feels exciting because this is a completely different experience for me. I’ve been on COLORS before as a guest, where I got to have fun, interact with everyone, and just enjoy the moment. But Khatron Ke Khiladi is a whole different ball game. Here, you’re not just making an appearance, you’re living the journey every single day, pushing yourself through challenges that test you physically and mentally. It gave me the chance to show a side of myself that people haven’t really seen before. I’m grateful to COLORS for giving me that opportunity, and I hope audiences enjoy watching this new version of Orry.
9. Any message for the audience?
A. I just want everyone to watch the show with an open mind because you’re going to see a side of me you’ve never seen before. There were moments when I laughed, moments when I panicked, and moments when I surprised myself. I gave every stunt my honest effort, and I hope people enjoy watching this journey as much as I enjoyed living it. Keep supporting all of us because this season is packed with surprises, and I promise it’s going to be one wild ride.
