Taapsee Pannu is overwhelmed by the global response to her latest film Gandhari, which has been making a strong impact on Netflix within just days of its release. The film, which premiered globally on September 3, has been trending across multiple international markets, reaching audiences far beyond its rooted Indian setting. Sharing her excitement over the film’s performance, Taapsee took to social media to express how surreal and validating the response has been. From topping charts in multiple countries to securing a spot among Netflix’s top global titles, the actress revealed that the overwhelming response has left her struggling to comprehend the scale of the film’s reach.

“Release week is very stressful, especially when you know your film is going to release in the whole world at the same time. There is no fight of how many screens, how many shows. It’s there on the platform and people are open to viewing it. If they like it, if they hear good things about it. Obviously, every day is very stressful. I have hardly been able to sleep last two nights. Trying to understand how do I assess how many people are watching it. And now, I just couldn’t control myself. I had to share this really really happy moment with all of you. So, as of yesterday, it looks like Gandhari is trending at number 1 in 8 countries India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Sri Lanka, Mauritius. And number 2 in Kuwait and Nigeria. But it’s not, we just don’t stop here. So, what is exciting is that we are number 4 globally right now. Within 3 days of releasing. We released on 3rd, this is on 5th. That we got to know, we are actually number 4 worldwide. And the countries that we are trending in actually, it’s crazy. Because there are 41 countries we are trending in right now. And there are some countries whose name I can’t even pronounce. So, there is a country which is called Guadeloupe. I am sure I am saying it wrong. But we were trending at number 10 there on September 4th. And it jumped to number 5 yesterday, within a day. I don’t think this country really speaks Hindi that much. But this has been extremely validating. So, there are lot of other countries where it’s trending. Poland, Portugal, Romania, I mean Saudi and Spain. Thailand. So, all these are trending at Tobago. And yeah, so South Africa. So, all these countries, UK is trending at number 6 apparently. So, this has been so so overwhelming. Like there is a country called Martinique. We were trending at number 9 on 4th there. And we are number 4. Or we were number 4 yesterday. In Martinique. But I don’t even know this country. Actually, I now have to open the map. And understand where this is. Because now I have to go there.Thank you so much. Thank you so much. So much love. You know it’s Luxembourg. It’s trending at number 8. Okay, I am getting a little overwhelmed. Because when we made this content, this film. We thought actually this is a very rooted story. So, mostly people from India or Indians only will be able to understand the world. And the culture. And the whole equation. Because it’s such a rooted story we thought. But more than 40 countries in 3 days. I don’t even know. I think I will take a whole day to absorb this. But thank you so much. Thank you for making this amazing weekend. This Janmashtami probably will be one of the most memorable Janmashtami for me. Thank you so much. Yay.”

The response to Gandhari marks a significant moment for Taapsee, as a story she believed was deeply rooted in Indian culture has found resonance with audiences across the globe. With the film continuing to trend internationally, its growing reach has made this Janmashtami an especially memorable one for the actress.
