“Going from Raja Awasthi to Ravan has been the most challenging, painful, yet deeply rewarding experience of my career” — Adinath Kothare on his wild transformation for Nayyi Navelli
From a wholesome green-flag family man to the epitome of tyranny, Adinath Kothare breaks down the routine and grit behind bringing two completely opposite characters to life in Nayyi Navelli.
Directed by M. Balaji and backed by producers Aanand L. Rai and Himansh Sharma alongside Amazon MGM Studios, Nayyi Navelli has taken the box office by storm. Featuring an ensemble led by Yami Gautam alongside Adinath Kothare, Anurag Thakurrr, Sunita Rajwar, Suneel Shine, Susmita Mukherjee, and Mita Vasisht, this wild circus of fantasy and comedy has struck a chord with audiences everywhere. Continuing its unstoppable dream run into its 3rd week, the film is pulling crowds to theatres in and cementing its status as a certified blockbuster. Behind all the laughter, magic, and scale on screen lies hard work, something Adinath Kothare recently offered a look into.
Taking to his social media, Adinath shared a peek into the 4-hour daily transformation routine he underwent for 20 out of their 50-day shoot schedule to bring his dual character arc to life. Sharing the behind-the-scenes video, Adinath wrote:
“A glimpse into my 4-hour daily transformation routine for 20 out of our 50-day shoot schedule! ⏳🎬
Going from Raja Awasthi to Ravan has been the most challenging, painful, yet deeply rewarding experience of my career.
It is incredibly rare for an actor to play two completely opposite ends of the spectrum in a single film: Raja, the ultimate green-flag family man, and Ravan, the epitome of pride, greed, and tyranny!
This insane transformation truly took a village.
A huge shoutout to the incredible teams who made it happen.
A tight hug and endless gratitude to my amazing co-actors for their constant support and motivation: @yamigautam @anurag.thakurrr @sunita_rajwar @suneelshine @susmita_mukherjeeofficial @mitavasisht @kullubaaazi @pratiekpachori and the entire Awasthi family! 🫂❤️
I am in absolute awe of our captain, @directormbalaji for making this wild circus of fantasy and comedy come alive so beautifully! 🪄✨
Endless gratitude to my visionary producers @aanandlrai & #himanshusharma, and the magician casting director, @castingchhabra for believing I could pull this off.
Thank you for the overwhelming love, everyone!
“Nayyi Navelli” is now successfully running in its 3rd week at the Box Office ! 🚀🍿❤️”
Playing two extremes in a single film, transitioning from the wholesome green-flag family man Raja Awasthi to the villainous Ravan, demanded physical grit, patient craftsmanship from the prosthetics crew, and complete dedication. Adinath’s wholesome note highlights the teamwork across makeup, costumes, action, and direction that made this transformation possible. As Nayyi Navelli continues its run in theatres, this behind-the-scenes glimpse serves as proof of the passion and effort that went into making one of the most exciting big-screen experiences of the year.
