Ranbir Kapoor and Rocking Star Yash Reveal Their Children’s Reactions to Ramayana
As Ramayana gears up for a historic box office release this Diwali, lead stars Ranbir Kapoor and Rocking Star Yash share the wholesome, funny, and emotional reactions of their children to the film.
Ramayana, produced by Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is one of the most anticipated films of 2026. With every asset, from its teaser to its trailer, the excitement around the film has been continuously soaring. Apart from the scale, star power, and visual grandeur, what truly sets this project apart is its heart. From the very beginning, the team has approached the material not just as a project, but as a sacred responsibility. In an industry where promotional rollouts are often driven purely by marketing schedules, Ramayana has chosen a path rooted in Indian culture, tradition, and spiritual significance.
Bringing this story to life has been an emotional experience for the cast as well, especially for Ranbir Kapoor and Rocking Star Yash, who are experiencing the timeless tale through the innocent eyes of their children. Opening up about how his daughter Raha has been part of the journey, Ranbir shared how special it is that this will be the first story she watches on screen. Having visited sets and interacted with co-stars Sai Pallavi and Rocking Star Yash, she has been connected to the world they are building. For Ranbir, the role came at a phase in his life that coincided with fatherhood, deepening his own desire to be a better person and share these values with his child.
On the other hand, Rocking Star Yash shared a hilarious and adorable anecdote about how his kids reacted to the film, admitting that navigating their questions was quite a surprise. While his daughter was cool and simply gave a thumbs up when asked if she liked it, his son had too many questions and was genuinely confused and conflicted. Being told to follow the values of Rama, his son was upset to see him playing Ravana, questioning him with, “Why are you playing Ravana? Why are you the bad guy?” Yash recalled how his son even got upset while watching him fight Jatayu in the film, sitting right next to him and yelling, “Stop it! Why are you doing this?” to the point of crying because he didn’t like seeing his father killing the bird on screen.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with 8-time Oscar-winning DNEG and Rocking Star Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part epic will release worldwide in IMAX, with Part 1 arriving on November 5 for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
