Mumbai, September 2026: One accusation. One young girl who refuses to stay silent. And a powerful world that will do everything in its power to control the narrative. JioHotstar today unveiled the trailer of Hunkkaar: The Roar, introducing Meenu, a new-generation protagonist who refuses to fit the mold of how a victim is expected to behave. Defiant, complicated and unpredictable, her choices challenge audiences to question their own assumptions: who they believe, what they believe, and whether that belief can change. At the heart of the story is a young woman who refuses to back down, even as the world around her begins to question her.

As the trailer unfolds, it pulls audiences deeper into a world where truth is no longer a straightforward pursuit, but a battle shaped by power, belief and perception. With the story extending across the police investigation, courtroom and media, each space brings its own version of the truth and its own stakes, revealing the larger forces at play. Bringing these layered perspectives to life is a powerhouse ensemble featuring Aneet Padda, Fatima Shaikh, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur, Raghubir Yadav and Ram Kapoor, with each performance adding a new dimension to the unfolding battle.

Directed by Karan D Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia, and created by Karan D Kapadia and Nitya Mehra, Hunkkaar: The Roar is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures, A Mangata Films Production, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas serving as Executive Producer.

Alok Jain, Head Hindi & English Entertainment Business, JioStar (Streaming, TV & Studios) said, “Stories that are rooted in human experiences, and told with honesty and authenticity, have the power to create conversations that go far beyond entertainment. At JioHotstar, we have been committed to bringing such stories to audiences, and the response to Chiraiya reinforced the appetite for narratives that are deeply human, relevant and told with sensitivity. Hunkkaar: The Roar is another story we believe strongly in — a gripping and layered narrative that explores defiance, power, belief and judgement through the journey of a young woman who refuses to back down. What makes the series particularly compelling is the authenticity with which it explores these complex themes, inviting audiences to engage with the story while also questioning their own perceptions.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Executive Producer, on Hunkkaar: The Roar:, said, “Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Executive Producer, on Hunkkaar: The Roar: , said, ““As a producer, I’ve always wanted to stand behind stories that have something to say, and Hunkkaar: The Roar is very much that. I also really believe in Nitya and Karan as filmmakers. A big part of what my production company, Purple Pebble Pictures stands for is backing filmmakers with a distinct point of view and a bold vision and giving them the space to tell the stories they want to tell. I’m incredibly proud of what this entire cast and crew has created, and It’s been a privilege to be a small part of this journey. I am very proud to present Hunkkaar: The Roar with JioHotstar, Birla Studios, Applause and Ashi. I hope the story stays with audiences the way it stayed with me.”.

Aneet Padda on playing Meenu Rawat:
“Meenu isn’t defined by what happened to her, but by what she chooses after. She’s young, complicated and not always easy to understand, that’s what makes her real. Her one constant? A refusal to be silenced. I hope audiences see her vulnerability and the defiance at the heart of her journey.”

Deepak Segal, Producer, Applause Entertainment, said, “Hunkkaar: The Roar is a story about finding the courage to speak up, even when the world around you is asking you to stay quiet. At a time when young voices are increasingly becoming unafraid to question, express themselves and be heard, Meenu’s journey feels particularly relevant in today’s time and for today’s generation that is unrelenting towards what they believe is right. What makes the story compelling is that it explores this spirit through a deeply human and layered narrative. As producers, we are proud to partner with JioHotstar to bring this timely and authentic story to audiences.”

Fatima Shaikh on playing ACP Jasleen Singh Soni:
“Jasleen enters a case where there are no easy answers and where every decision carries consequences. What drew me to her was her ability to remain focused on her responsibility even as the world around the investigation becomes increasingly complicated. She is dealing with power, influence, public opinion and the pressure that comes with a case of this magnitude, but she continues to search for what is true. Hunkkaar: The Roar gave me the opportunity to explore a character who is constantly navigating that difficult space between what you see, what you are told and what you ultimately choose to believe.”

Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub on playing Bhalerao:
“Bhalerao is an underdog, and there is something inherently compelling about watching someone who doesn’t have the biggest voice in the room still choose to fight. He enters a situation where the power dynamics are heavily stacked against him, but his belief in what the law should stand for keeps him going, he is the conscious of this story, the show. What I liked about it, is that it doesn’t present the truth as something simple or convenient. Every character has their own perspective, their own motivations and their own version of what they believe is right. That makes the courtroom and the larger battle around it incredibly unpredictable.”
