Bipasha Basu Gears Up for an Acting Comeback After 6 Years with Hansal Mehta’s Barabanki, Commences Shoot
Bipasha Basu is geared to make a much-awaited acting comeback with Hansal Mehta’s upcoming crime thriller, Barabanki. As per reports, the actress has kickstarted shooting for the series in Mumbai, cementing her first anticipated screen outing after a hiatus. The crime thriller series is inspired by a real-life operation to break down an opium cartel in Uttar Pradesh.
Based on retired IPS officer Aloke Lal’s book The Barabanki Narcos: Busting India’s Most Notorious Drug Cartel, the series marks Basu’s first collaboration with filmmaker Hansal Mehta after six years since her OTT debut with Dangerous (2020). As per a report, the actress kickstarted shooting for it in Mumbai last month. Marking a promising comeback, the series will feature Bipasha alongside Sunny Kaushal and Vishal Jethwa, who take up prominent roles.
The details about Bipasha Basu’s role are being kept under wraps, however, reports indicate that her role shares a deep connection with the main protagonist and also plays a catalyst in driving the narrative. It is being said that the actress gave an instant nod to the series after Hansal Mehta approached her with it. Mehta was also said to be on Basu’s wishlist, making this team-up even more promising.
What adds to the intrigue is that Bipasha will be seen in an entirely unique look, one that’s never seen before, ever! Carrying a real-life inspiration, an intense plot and a formidable ensemble, Barabanki marks a significant new chapter in Basu’s return!
