OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE TEAM OF OPERATION TRAL

Operation Tral is a film inspired by a real incident and rooted in a story of national security, courage and the people who put the country before themselves. Operation Tral draws from the work of our national investigative agencies and attempts to tell a story that, above all, is about India, its people and the spirit of those who serve the nation. It is therefore deeply disappointing to see a work-related post about the film being met with an abusive and politically charged comment referring to a political party in a derogatory manner.

Everyone is entitled to their political opinions, ideological beliefs and differences. Cinema has always been a space where diverse perspectives can coexist. But disagreement can never be an excuse for abusive or distasteful language, especially when directed at a project and the people who have put their time, effort and conviction into making it.

We also find it particularly unfortunate that such a comment has come from an award winning member of the film fraternity. The stature and experience that come with being recognised for one’s work should ideally be accompanied by respect for the work and choices of others. Operation Tral is not a political propaganda film. It is a story inspired by real events, created with the intention of honouring the courage, commitment and sacrifices involved in protecting the nation.

We will always respect differing opinions and welcome healthy criticism of our film. What we cannot endorse is abuse, personal attacks or the reduction of a sincere cinematic effort to a political slur. We stand by our film, its intent and the story we have chosen to tell.
