“I Learnt a Lot About Myself”: Shruti Haasan Reflects on 17 Years of Growth, Challenges and Reinvention

Seventeen years after stepping into Indian cinema with Luck, Shruti Haasan looks back at a journey that has been filled with experiments, challenges, successes and lessons. From working across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films to creating her own identity as an actor and musician, Shruti’s career has been defined by constant evolution.

For Shruti, the biggest learning from these years has been understanding not just the craft, but everything that goes behind bringing a story to life. Reflecting on her journey, she says, “I learnt a lot about myself, about the job, obviously about the people and about how it takes a village to come together to make creative things, successful things, and even flop things sometimes. So yes, learnt a lot.”

Looking back at what the industry has taught her, Shruti believes it has also built her resilience. “One thing that I learned from the industry is that, it definitely made me way stronger and tougher, like buffalo skin,” she says.
