Starring Syed Raza Ahmed as Nawab and Jasmeet Kaur as Heer, COLORS’ ‘Tu Juliet Jatt Di’ brings a fresh twist to the classic college romance. Here, marriage happens first, then college, and love shows up when it’s least expected! Set in the lively world of Chandigarh Prime University, the show follows Nawab, a rich, carefree Jatt who believes life is all about speed, swagger, and spotlight, and Heer, a grounded, ambitious girl chasing her dreams with full focus. They come from two completely different worlds; he lives for the moment; she plans every move but destiny ties them together in a majboori ki shaadi that flips both their lives upside down. Bringing to life the character of Nawab, Syed Raza gets candid about his experience of spearheading ‘Tu Juliet Jatt Di.’

1. Tell us about the show, ‘Tu Juliet Jatt Di?’
A. Tu Juliet Jatt Di is a crazy-cool campus romance with pyaar, takraar, and total chaos! Here, shaadi comes first, then college, and only later comes love – usually, it’s the other way around. Imagine being husband and wife first, and then discovering friendship, emotions, and love… all while studying together in the vibrant world of Chandigarh University. I play Nawab – a rich, reckless, and arrogant Jatt for whom college is all about fun, fame, and zero feelings. Love doesn’t even make it to his to-do list. And then comes Heer – grounded, ambitious, and everything Nawab is not. When these two worlds clash, it’s pure kalesh! What follows is a rollercoaster of masti, ego clashes, and that explosive enemies-to-lovers energy everyone secretly roots for. When I first heard the story, I was genuinely surprised because in today’s world, who hears of a marriage before college? But that’s the genius of Ravi sir and Sargun ma’am. They always bring something fresh yet emotionally familiar. With Tu Juliet Jatt Di, they’ve taken that signature magic of young love to another level. It’s youthful, it’s rooted in Punjab, it’s messy in the best way possible and most importantly, it feels real. That’s what makes it special, and I’m sure the audience will feel that too.

2. Tell us what attracted you to your role?
A. Honestly, what drew me to Nawab was that I knew he would be memorable for anyone watching him onscreen. He’s that guy in Chandigarh University everyone knows — not just by name, but by the roar of his bike and the trail of chaos he leaves behind. Nawab lives by one rule: ‘Live life king-size.’ For him, confidence isn’t just attitude; it’s survival. He’s grown up believing that power, money, and popularity can fix everything. But what really makes him stand out is what lies beneath that swagger; he’s a boy who’s super emotional, family-driven, and just wants to be seen for who he truly is. He dreams big, especially about cricket, and that’s where his heart beats the loudest. And of course, there’s something special about playing a Jatt, and we’ve seen so many legends pull that off. From Dharmendra ji to Diljit Dosanjh, it’s my turn to carry forward the Jatt legacy.

3. How was your experience shooting in Chandigarh?
A. I am from Mumbai, born and raised, so I was really looking forward to shooting in Chandigarh. This was the first time I interacted with Punjabi culture (officially). One thing I knew about this city was that it served great food (that was a given) but what I didn’t know was how welcoming and warm the people are. Here no one feels like a stranger but just one of our relatives from home. I learnt Punjabi from Chandigarh for Tu Juliet Jatt Di! Every day on set felt like an experience and not just something I have to do. I never thought I would fall in love with the city the way I did. I think I discovered a new favourite city.

4. Tell us a bit about your bond with your co-actor Jasmeet.
A. Working with Jasmeet was such a fun experience! She is really amazing to work with, she is focused, professional, and always brings great energy to the set. From day one, there was this really good comfort level between us. Our characters, Nawab and Heer, are constantly at war, full of banter and ego clashes but off-screen, well we are not that different. Our nok jhoks extends off screen too. But it’s all fun. We laugh a lot, discuss scenes, and keep it light even on heavy shoot days. Plus, she’s a great co-actor — very giving, very natural — and that makes every scene more fun.

5. Nawab’s both loud and vulnerable; how did you bring that mix alive?
A. That’s what I love the most about Nawab, he is not one dimensional. He has so many layers beneath. On the first glance he is a loud, arrogant, confident guy who thinks he has it all figured out. But when you get a closer look and start peeling the layers you will find him vulnerable and a guy who just wants to be seen and understood beyond the image he has created for himself. To bring that mix alive, I had to understand why he behaves the way he does. His charm and attitude come from wanting to be in control. He’s used to getting attention, and that’s his comfort zone. But the moment his emotions start getting involved, especially when Heer enters his life, that facade begins to crack. So, I consciously played those shifts, sometimes with just a pause, sometimes through his eyes or tone. In his louder scenes, I made sure there’s still a sense of purpose behind the bravado. And in his quieter moments, I let the boy behind the ‘Jatt swagger’ come through. That contrast of confidence and confusion, strength and sensitivity is what makes Nawab real and relatable.

6. How has your experience been working with Ravi and Sargun?
A. Working with Ravi Sir and Sargun ma’am has honestly been amazing. They’re such clear-headed, passionate people. They just get what the audience wants to see. I wanted to work with Dreamiyanta for a long time, and we tried for their last show but things didn’t work out then. But they remembered me and thought I would be the perfect fit for Nawab and by God’s grace, everything went well this time. Both are so hands-on, they’re there for everything and you can see how much they care about the story. For me, as Nawab, it was a huge learning experience. They let you experiment, they trust you, but at the same time, they’ll push you to go that extra mile. That’s the best part, you’re constantly growing, but in a space that feels easy and fun. Working with them doesn’t feel like pressure; it feels like you’re creating something special together.

7. What is your message to your viewers?
A. Viewers will get a story that’s young at heart but rooted in emotion, set against the vibrant energy of college romance. It’s got everything – the fire of first love, the chaos of college life, and the magic of discovering love where you least expect it. The show offers a perfect mix of romance, rivalry, and raw emotion, wrapped in humour, attitude, and heart. So get ready, because Tu Juliet Jatt Di is about to flip everything you thought you knew about college wala pyaar! Yahaan pehle shaadi hoti hai, phir college, aur phir dil milte hai — and trust me, you’ve never seen a love story like this before.
